Kecia is a Licensed Acupuncturist and a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine as well as a Board Certified Massage Therapist. In her acupuncture practice, she specializes in pain management and orthopedics, autoimmune diseases, zero balancing and Mei Zen cosmetic Acupuncture.
Prior to studying Chinese Medicine, Kecia spent 14 years practicing bodywork with a similar focus as her acupuncture practice. She found a passion in treating people with chronic pain and autoimmune diseases as well as endurance athletes looking for a way to decrease their recovery time and increase their performance.
Kecia’s belief in an integrative approach to health and wellness is what led her to pursue a Masters Degree in Traditional Chinese medicine at Five Branches University. She took on an intensive four years of studying acupuncture and Chinese Herbal medicine in order to treat patients on a deeper and more systemic level.
Kecia also has over nine years of experience in teaching massage and bodywork techniques as well as anatomy and physiology leaving her with a deep understanding of the body and the interrelationship between all its systems. Her background provides her with a unique skill set that she brings to the table in each one of her acupuncture treatments.
Kecia also has over 10 years of training in Zero Balancing, an energetic modality that aligns the physical body with the energetic body. Zero balancing is a modality that was founded by Dr. Fritz Smith and the intention of the work is to bring the client “back to zero.”
Throughout her career, Kecia has been committed to expanding her knowledge by continuing her education to further specialize her bodywork. Kecia has gained valuable techniques to utilize for the people who need to manage symptoms of chronic pain and debilitating illnesses. She is also in the top of her field in helping endurance athletes decrease their recovery time and increase their mobility.
Kecia’s advanced studies in Chinese Medicine include internships for orthopedics and sports medicine with Anthony Von der Muhll, L.Ac and Japanese palpation based acupuncture with Mary Morgan, L.Ac. She continues to work toward a certification in Integrative Acupuncture Physical Medicine.
Kecia also worked as an intern to provide acupuncture to patients through the Santa Cruz Aids Project and Janus treatment facility. She values the opportunity to work so closely with the community through those types of programs and feels that it is a great honor to be able to do so. Those experiences have inspired Kecia to seek more ways to integrate acupuncture into the community. (License #'s AP3866, MA87777)
